I am wanting to go back to Slackware and it has been some time. I have tried to install Slackware 13.37 on my dell 1525 and everything seems to work but my broadcom wireless and my wired connection. Any help would be grateful in trying to fix this issue that I am currently having.
The lights come on when wired but they are not green, they are orange and yellow indicating an issue with connection.
/Edit: Realized this was in the wrong area, if some one can move this please.
I'm not sure if your Dell 1525 is using the Intel/Broadcom wireless. You can use 'dmesg' to identify the chipset for both Ethernet & Wireless chipsets. Slackware does support Broadcom but you will need to get the firmware and place it in '/lib/firmware'.
If your systems uses the Broadcom Wireless chipset then get the firmware from Slackbuilds . Slackbuilds is a good source for packages, read the FAQ.
If you do a search here on the Slackware Forum for install issue(s) with the Broadcom chipset, you will find many posts that will help you. Dell 1525 Wiki is useful.
Plus Configuring your network in Slackware is Alien_Bob's excellent article on the way network cards are configured in Slackware. Loads of internal reference links for Ethernet & Wireless.
Just a few links to aid you to gaining some understanding;
Sorry for the late response. I have tried what was listed and I am still having the same issue. I have installed the wrapper as well as the drivers and it still does not work properly.
Code:
iwconfig:
lo no wireless extentions
wlan0 IEE 802.11BG ESSOD:OFF\ANY
I have the same Broadcom device in my laptop, not the best, but works. I just had to install the firmware, did that with sbopkg, the package name is b43-firmware.
