No make???

Hey guys,

I am currently installing slackware 12.2 from a dvd i got in a magazine.

Trying to install all the drivers and do the usual configuration stuff. Although when I try to build something from source - It told me that make was unknown, i.e. there is no make on the system (no gmake either).

Q1. Am I doing something wrong??
Q2. If I have to build make from source, how do I get the source code, I cant find it.

Currently have no internet set up so I cant just get make from a package manager (does slackware have a package manager?)

Any help would be great!

Hi and welcome to LQ

Most probably you didn't select make, (or anything from the development tools) when you installed Slackware. What you can do, is to mount the dvd and run (as root):
Code:
installpkg /mnt/dvd/slackware/d/make-3.81-i486-1.tgz
Slackware has a package manager, that is pkgtool and contains the various utilities (installpkg, removepkg, upgradepkg etc) used to deal with slack packages.
