Installing the LILO

How long it usually takes to install LILO? I've chosen simple LILO installation, and after 10 minutes of waiting it still writes "Installing the Linux Loader..."
I don't "hear" any activity on hard disc or DVD. Should I let it do his "magic" and hope for the best or restart?
I've set him to install LILO to ROOT, somehow didn't want to "risk" with MBR so I think there shouldn't be problems if I restart now.

ext3
EDIT:
I used expert mode in the end. It's a lot easier than I thought it would be. Just select drive, delay and that's it.

Grub

this is just an opinion but instead of lilo you should probably use GRUB it is much easier to configure and it has lost of nice features. it installs in no time and you could try something like supergrub and burn a bootable cd to configure it

Just install the lilo-22.8-i486-14.txz(install it on MBR, don't worry the installation will be fine), once downloaded just install it. It will make in /etc/ the lilo.conf file, configure it using the right kernel you want to run next reboot, after finished run lilo, if you receive errors please correct 'em or probably you'll get errors in the boot.

Last thing...Don't forget to use the generic kernel(Pat suggests it and read /boot/README.initrd for more info)
