Hi, I have researched slackware and I feel comfortable enough to attempt an install. I use linux on my laptop (dual boot xp & ubuntu) but I will be installing this to a box I threw together earlier today so slack will be the sole O/S on it.
The Box Specs (Best I can remember):
P3 550
320Mb SDRAM (128, 128, 64)
32Mb Vidcard (dont recall chipset, nothing spectacular)
10 Gig Master
40 Gig Slave
DVD Master
CDRW Slave
The main purpose of this box will be basically a server and Internet Terminal. While I was throwing in the second HD and extra RAM today, I notice the HD wasnt connected to the motherboard but connected to a ULTRA66 pci card. The CD and DVD however was connected to the secondary IDE ports. The Primary is present but not being used in lieu of the ultra pci card. Does anyone forsee an installation problem with this? I ran a Knoppix live cd and it listed the hard-drives had hde1, hde2, hdf1, hdf2 so I'm assuming slack will recognise them.....but then again you know what they say about assumptions.
Also, does anyone have any extra tips or DO-NOT-DO-<this>. I plan on using the guide at
www.slackbasics.org to assist me during installation.
