I had/have Slack 11 and when i installed i booted with sata.i and everything worked like a charm ...

Now i want to install a fresh new copy of Slack 12.1 but there is no sata.i and my SATA hard drive is not recognized by fdisk/cfdisk ...

Is your CD-ROM drive IDE ? If so then maybe '/dev/sda' is your HDD, try pointing fdisk to it. Also, check in the BIOS and see what mode the SATA is in, it can be in PATA(IDE), SATA, or AHCI. If it still will not see, try putting it in AHCI mode.
