Installing backtrack 2 using external firewire drive

Hi all, since backtrack 2 is based on slackware 11 I thought I might get some help here. Here's the situation, I can boot backtrack 2 using the external firewire cdrom drive provided I first copy the BT folder from the cdrom to the / directory of my existing linux system. The problem would be since I want to install backtrack onto my hdd to replace my existing os, I need to repartition my drive and lose the data on it together with the BT folder. In the backtrack installer, there is a source path so my question would be where then should I point the source path to? Any solutions would be most welcomed and appreciated.
