error executing emacs after attempt to upgrade to emacs 28.1

Running fvwm2 on X11 from a recently installed sw15.0
I attempted to upgrade emacs from sw15.0 (emacs 27.2) to emacs-28.1-i586-1.txz from slackware current.
After using:
installpkg emacs-28.1-i586-1.txz
then in X11 xterm executing: emacs
I get:
-bash: /usr/bin/emacs: No such file or directory
That file is eventually linked to emacs-28.1-with-x11, which exists and is executable by everyone.
I've tried several iterations of removepkg/installpkg/upgradepkg
on both the emacs 28.1 an 27.1 packages (with no noticeable error messages) but still get the same file not found error.

Any ideas what I did wrong, and how to recover a working emacs?

Resolved: error executing emacs after attempted upgrade

I was trying to load a 32 bit package on a 64 bit system. Restored the original package.
