I have a problem that i can't understand. With my main pc, i installed several version; livecd or console; without any problem. On my 2nd pc that act as server(A Athlon 2Ghz) , i can install all linux version that have a live cd , but i cannot install or boot version that use console. I really want to install Slackware 13.0 on it because of all the feature it have and the way he work, but the installation is on console so i put the cd's in try to start a console and all seem to work great but just before the console start the monitor goes off and i cannot do nothing anything more. I've tried all the boot console with the F2 option that show all the boot console that can be used but none works. I wonder if there is a way to modify a loader to put the right display driver or something like that the make the console install possible. I try to load the console with another live cd console start but all the other distro console fail too. The problem is the display driver but i don't know how to solve this... The card is an old Hercules 3d prophet 64 Mb. Thx helping me...
If you mean to type hugesmp.s -nofb , i try it but it does'n work... I waill take a look if you command is exact to disable the framebuffer but if it is i will need some other advice... Thx by the way..
Ok i found that on this site : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FrameBuffer , now i load hugesmp.s with the vga=ask nofb option and set my resolution to 1024x768x16 or any that fit like 800x600 . and i go one step further and i see the loading screen that i cannot see before , but same problem again at the end of the loading... I will continu to search for a way to resolve my problem but if you have something that can help me , don't be shy to tell it!!
Correction, i not go far as before.. only the kernel view setting has changed... Nothing seem to work... I have a big headaches tring find the solution...Help will be very apreciated...
Thx all but after 8 hour of intense trying i've got very angry when an idea hit me like a truck on a highway, i search in my spare part closet and i find a card that is more recent and can handle framebuffer. It have less power than the old one but for a server that will be drived by ssh an occasionnaly by vnc it will do the job right. Thx a lot by the way for your help!!!
