hi all! following the instructions reported in slackware's syte i created my own boot disk using BARE.I and my root disk using COLOR.GZ
the computer in wich sw 9.1 must be installed doesn't support CD-boot, so I first formetted the HD, then inserted the BOOT DISK into the drive. At the reboot, the floppy isn't recognized as a bootable disk... why?
color.gz hasn't worked since Slackware 4.0 or so. You need to make 3 floppies, one with a boot image and then install.1 and install.2 which contaion the Slackware setup scripts.
Put rawrite and the image files in the top level C: or D:
Run rawrite and answer the prompts. You may need to change the names of the floppy image files as Windows somtimes appends a . gz
Well, the boot disk images do work when properly written to floppy with rawrite or with linux dd
color.gz does NOT work unles you get color.gz from Slackware 3.5 or so. Slackware 8.1 uses 5 floppies for the installation scripts, Slackware 9.1 uses 2.
What commands are using to write the floppy disk? and what error messages do you get.
