xfce not working

I'm trying to run Xfce on Slack 11. I run
Code:
xwmconifg
to set my DE to xfce, then run
Code:
startx
. When xfce starts up all I see is the default background. the right click menus or panels/takbar are not operable and not visible.
Any ideas? All other DE/WMs work fine.

Thanks!

you need to make a xinitrc.xfce file in /etc/X11/xinit then there is a symlink named xinitrc that points to xinitrc.xfce
