Question xfce 4.10 window docking like in ubuntu / win7?

hi guys,

at work i am using windows 7 and i like it in windows how i am able to dock windows very easily on the left or right side or maximize it when i leave it on the top.

a friend of mine uses ubuntu with unity (12.10) and can also dock windows like in win7.

i searched a lot but couldn't find how to make this work with xfce.
i can set window shortcuts in window manager but then i can dock windows only with shortcuts and not with the mouse.

any ideas?

I've had good luck with using Cairo Dock on XFCE.
I helped migrate a Mac user to Slackware and installed a full-blown OSX theme.
She barely knows the difference!

With the talk about maximising and docking with the mouse I think you might be talking about tiling, rather than docking. That is to say, dragging a window to the edge of the screen and it expanding to eccupy half the screen. There is a setting in xfce to do that, but I don't use xfce so I can't tell you where it is. Probably in with the xfwm or compositing settings. Might be somewhere else if you use compiz.
