Xfce 4.10: To move the panel across the screen: how.

Hi: I have carefully read the panel settings help and nowhere in it is it described how to do it. As all I want is getting it back to its defaut position, I only I knew where on disk xfce saves these settings, I erase the respectibve file and I'll have the original settings automatically restored.

As far as I remember there were quite a few panel-related changes from 4.10 to 4.12, so I'm not sure the following will work. Right-click on a blank area of the panel until you see panel options and then unlock the panel. Move the mouse to the farthest corner of the panel on the left-hand side and then grab the panel. You should be able to move it then.

to add to what Gerard shared:

Right click on blank space, scroll down to "panel" then "panel preferences", untick lock panel to move the panel wherever you want, you can also change the mode to vertical, horizontal or desktop.

Alright, following your instructions I've been able to move it. Now please tell me: how do I change the width? I've have tried hard but in vain.

Does that option not appear under Panel Preferences?

I only see option Measurements, under which I have the following parameters:

Row size (pixels)
number of rows
length (%)

And, what is weird, by sliding none of the three sliders does any dimention of the panel change.

It may be insignificant, but still troublesome. I beg your pardon. As soon as I quit Settings>Panel the panel becomes invisible! Under Panel>Display>General there are three not mutually exclusive options (check boxes):

Lock panel
Automatically show and hide panel
Don't reserve space on borders

Now, I check Lock panel and uncheck the other two, but when I press the dialog box Close button, the panel disappears! Can you explain that?
