Hey all I'm using Slack 10.2 with default kernel. I dL and installed the drivers configured fglrxconfig and tried to restart x. It has done the same thing every time I try to install these stupid drivers. I'm using an ATI 9800PRO and have no idea why it isn't working. Any help? Thanks.
I'll post my xorg.config for before and after I install the drivers. Maybe someone can help me finally get this working.

Thanks for the reply heltreko. Looks like I will be compiling my first kernel sooner than I thought. Do you know if I would have issues with the newest kernel and the ATI drivers? Thanks again heltreko.
If you want to be able to work in X while compiling your kernel etc. just change the Driver section in you xorg.conf from fglrx to vesa (or ati or radeon) and you'll be able to run X but without hardware accelerated 3D.
