Hi,
You can see from the above that CD1&2 are a must. If you plan on KDE/KDEi then CD3 should be downloaded. You can use the torrents or http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/slackware/.

Look at the mirrors at http://slackware.com/getslack/ or Official List of Mirrors, AlienBase (Alien_Bob's) AlphaGeek's Unofficial Mirror List,The Linux Mirror Project plus don't forget Download Linux here on LQ.

AlienBase (Alien_Bob's) has announced My new mirror. By request Pound it! Not my request but Alien_Bob's. See the url for full information.

It depends on what you want to do with it.

I find that firefox uses too much memory/processing to work on that old of a machine... I'm running a Pentium3 laptop with 256mb ram. Needless to say, I've been doing everything from the console. However, fluxbox and simple gui apps seem to work fine.

I've got an IBM A22m Thinkpad running Slackware 13.1. It's a Pentium III - 1 GHz with 512 MB of RAM. It runs very nicely with the stock KDE 4.4.

Regards,

I have 1.6GHz Pentium M with 384MB RAM. I find it runs smoothly.
When I used an older system, I would build Midori for browsing. I use Claws Mail for email.
