I was going to say those are pretty impressive times compared to my system, and I have a 1st Gen Ryzen 7 1800x, but with a Threadripper, that makes total sense. On mine, with 17 threads (16 "cores"), I build the kernel in about 1m38s and modules in 8m20s, so it takes about 10 minutes overall.

I have Slackware 14.2 32 bit with 4.4.182-smp kernel. Read the thread, read this email:

http://www.slackware.com/lists/archi...ecurity.687785

But I saw that today an upgrade to 4.4.227 is available:

https://mirror.yandex.ru/slackware/s...linux-4.4.227/

Is it safe to do this upgrade immediately from 4.4.182?

Also in the email they say: "If you are using an initrd, you'll need to rebuild it". How to do it?

Also they say to "upgradepkg kernel-*.txz", but the thread says that some of the kernel files should be installed. What should I do?
