What is the file name for the calendar personal calendar for me?
Here's the problem. When I shutdown Plasma to update slackware64-current, I got a message about something not closing right. After the upgrade, including the kernel, my personal calendar is missing in action. This is a real mess for me because upcoming appointments, as well as pass appointments are missing. This is not good for an old man :-(
More info. I checked in ~/.local/share and found akonadi_ical_resource_0. The date of that file is back in September, 2021. I loaded the old ical file, and indeed, the calendar is current through entries made in September.
I do a backup of my home directory every month, after having been burned a few times ;-).
Is there some way to reclaim to restore from that?
Thanks, MDKDIO! Funny thing is that in ~/.local/share/apps, I only have kmail, which is kruft from 2019. I'm backing up that box now, and then I can restore std.ics from my 2022-07-01 backup.
Once I install kde on a machine, I'll keep the machine as-is, updating rather than wiping my home and reinstalling. I've got cruft from 2015. I found my std.ics under ~/.kde. Those guys at KDE do a good job keeping systems together from kde4 onward.
Yeah! on ~/.kde/share/apps/korganizer I found the file that I was looking for (std.ics) and now my korganizer / calendar goes back for years.
and as a bonus, I uncovered huge chunks of old stuff that can be deleted, making my backups quicker to finish.
Sorry to hear about your calendar disappearing after that update.
In Plasma, your personal calendar is typically stored as an iCal file. The default location for it is usually in your home directory under a folder called .local/share/akonadi_calendar_resource_. You might find your calendar data there. If it's not there, you could try searching your system for .ics files, as that's the common extension for iCal files.
Hopefully, you can recover your appointments and events. And if you ever want to dive deeper into calendar management, there's a nifty guide I stumbled upon at https://calendargeek.com/guide. It could offer some helpful insights!
