1. FTP Server
2. Samba Server (for Windows users to copy files to and from the FTP site quickly to make them available to customers).
3. Mail server -Sendmail used for relaying messages from another piece of software that we use here.
4. My own mail server runs Sendmail, Fetchmail, POP3d, Amavis, ClamAV, and Spam Assassin to ensure that all my mail is free from nasties
5. I use Sshd on it too for remote admin (and remote access).
And soon I`ll be using X on it on my machine at home with a load of other software such as Open Office.Org.
...........And its great! solid as a rock, dependable, quick and as such makes my life as a network administrator a bit easier!
Slack for me is:
1- Home PC - and all the things that go along with that
(internet / mail / websites (personal hobby) / word processing & spreadsheets / investing /
a few simple games / scanning to preserve records / etc. )
2- Video recording (home use quality)
3- Audio recording/mixing (multitrack)
4- learning / hobby (of *nix based OS's)
I use to have a slack webserver, but I took it down. I have plans for putting together
anather webserver at a later time.
i use Slackware just for a personal desktop, internet & email, instant messenger with Yahoo, multimedia, photos & graphics, some basic old fashoned games, KDE's freecell, mahjongg etc...
sometimes i use OpenOffice for documents & spreadsheets...
Linux has relieved me of microsofts kludgeware, i have not dual booted with windoze in a few years (never bought XP) and i don't think i will ever need to use microsoft's products again so i offer a Laurel & Harty handshake to all the developers of GNU/Linux for their hard work and a thanks :^)

interested! which SW you use?
Since you asked, I'll start by saying - I'm an older (early 30's) guitarist without a band - which
I don't have time for anymore anyway. When i get the urge, I use hydrogen for making some
drum beats for a song I have in mind (1 evening), export it to a wav, import it into audacity, and
then lay down 2-3 tracks over it (usually 1 rythem guitar, 1 lead, and on occasion 1 bass)
(the next evening). Nothing real fancy, but enjoyable with more then sufficent results for
my needs. (Since I'm the only one that listens to the end results anyway).
I found a cable with a 1/8" jack for MIC on the soundcard and a 3-pin XLR(?) F that I plug my mic
cable into and record directly from infront of the amp(s). That really made the difference - using a
quality mic as opposed to direct-in or a POS mic.
I've tried other mixers/recording programs, but for my needs, audacity does well enough. I'm not
putting out a CD, I'm just having fun.
I use it for my home router. I keep meaning to learn Open BSD to make my router but I don't want to deal w/ the hassle that will entail. I also use my router for a personal-use ftp server to move thing between here and work. Not that I'm doing anything besides actual work when I'm on the job...........
I'm using Slackware for desktop purposes currently.
I'll perhaps set up a internet/firewall server at my parents' home with slack one day... we'll see.
