what archatecture on kernel recompile?


when i recompile my kernel will it automatiacly compile for my system archatecture, or will it compile for some default like i386 or i486.

just wondering, and if it does compile for some default, is there a way to compile it for my computer?

Just a guess, but I believe it will be compiled based on your architecture for best performance.

Using menuconfig, look under "Processor type and features." There, you can tailor the Linux kernel to many aspects of your processor, include the processor family.
