H.265 MP4 behaves exactly the same way
Every other format is played inline: Av1 - MP3, H.264 - MP4, VP9 - WEBM, H.265 - mkv,
mkv files with sound work fine:

Cloudflare does not let me upload files but I don't see any difference between chromium and firefox handling video files.
heh when trying to upload files (jpg) with chromium I see this error
