Chromium downloads hevc file and then opens it, exactly the same way as Firefox: https://testfile.org/videos/hevc/
files with hevc extension are downloaded first: one has to download file and then it will automatically play downloaded file in the separate window.
H.265 MP4 behaves exactly the same way
Every other format is played inline: Av1 - MP3, H.264 - MP4, VP9 - WEBM, H.265 - mkv,
mkv files with sound work fine: https://www.libde265.org/downloads-videos/ so sound is played.
Cloudflare does not let me upload files but I don't see any difference between chromium and firefox handling video files.

heh when trying to upload files (jpg) with chromium I see this error

... and I am using chromium ver Version 119.0.6045.105

Great thanks and gratitude to Eric Hameleers!

Yesterday I received a message from Alien Pastures blog that makes me happy.
I tested mp4 hevc clip stored and Zoneminder web page from my video surveillance system.
Its new Chromium compilation with mentioned patches show HEVC and Zoneminder served video.

So I'm happy to mark this Thread as solved.
