i have installed Slackware in a virtual machine, but i have problems connecting to internet.
I used a NAT with the following settings (in VMware):
Vmnet host VMnet8
Gateway IP: 192.168.75.2
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
and the following in the netconfig command (i used staticIP)
Ip adress of the machine: 192.168.75.10
Gateway: 192.168.75.2
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
the problem is that i cannot connect to the internet.
However if i enter 192.168.1.254 (the adress i use to configure my thomson router) it opens my router configuration (in windows the internet works perfectly)

I have always found it easier to set up bridged networking with VMware rather than Nat. Just setup the netmask, gateway and name servers to be the same as the host and for the VM's IP supply a spare IP address on the same subnet as the host's IP.
Personally I use DHCP on the virtual machine to get the IP's from my router's DHCP server. This works well but setting up static IP addressing as I have descibed should work.
I've not tried much with Nat setup's in VMware but I've had some problems with it.

Set the VM to "bridged networking". On the virtual machine run "netconfig" as root and :

You'll need to copy the settings from the host. So, for example. if you host is running XP then open a command window on the host with Start->run->cmd and enter "ipconfig /all". Copy the gateway, subnet mask and dns server settings to the VM.
Well i tried the ipconfig /all but i have 2 physical network adapters (the one is which i use to connect the router) and 2 virtual VMware adapters. I copied the settings from the adapter which i use to connect the router but i still cannot connect to internet
