I don't know what people at Adobe think, of course. However, I am under impression that this might be the result of so many voices chanting "death to Flash and plugins, long live HTML5". As well as Mozilla's promise to shut down NPAPI. Turns out some people, even some highly respected people who made some very loud statements, jumped the gun.
