It may be worthwhile to relate how you launch Xfce. Do you just "startx", or "startxfce4" or perhaps some DM like "kdm", "gdm" or "xdm" ?

At this point the only thing I can recommend is to login to runlevel 3 as root and then issue "kdm" to try to reduce the odds any gnome app will be invoked, which will bring you to a GUI login screen and from there with a Full Install you should be able to easily select several different WM/DEs even if momentarily before your PC heats up to see if any of them automount your external disks/sticks. For example if Fluxbox or KDE works then we can compare the logs to see what is different with Xfce. I know it's a bit of a pita but this is what I would try just to get some useful data.

Best wishes for good fortune to you.

Yes, I said this that was a full recommended install. But I uncheck the kde packages (I only leave the xfce), and I uncheck too the TeX option and after install TeXLive with the slpkg.

Thanks

That's no longer a Full Recommended Install if you uncheck things, ruy. Even though I came to Slackware just after v7 was released, when I and others tried to pare down so far as to get a kernel to fit on a floppy, these days I have adapted and am gladly aware that installing everything uses up nothing but hard drive space unless you run it/them. The advantage of installing everything is huge in Slackware for many reasons and the problems you are having might be some evidence of just that. FWIW on this box, my Main, my fully configured Xfce uses only about 12% - 18% fewer resources than my fully configured KDE depending on what's running at the time. I'm not touting KDE as a Desktop alternative for you but just trying to say that some of the libraries can be important or why would Xfce even bother to support KDE and/or Gnome? More importantly Patrick designed Slackware as an integrated base system. Not every component is essential but why wait to discover that through errors and faults when it could be so easily avoided?

At the very least had you installed a legitimate Full Recommended Install, you would have an additional set of tools to suss out the problem. For a few minutes install time and a tiny fraction of hdd space, you very likely could have avoided weeks of frustration and effort. I suggest you install what you checked off and see what new tools you get and the results they may afford you. It will also be worthwhile to see for yourself this will come at zero cost to your computing power when you use Xfce and very well may make it run better. FWIW I vastly prefer running the KWin compositor over Xfce's less capable alternative when running Xfce. It's cleaner, more powerful and does a much better job of eliminating screen tearing. Xfce has deep support of KDE and/or Gnome for good reasons. Discover this for yourself.

Is true. But I read in the slackbuilds that the LaTeX installation (TeXLive in particular) could be some conflicts with the TeTeX installation, so I don't install the TeX package.
The first time that I install Slackware I nether check this options and it work fine (I mean the USB automount). So, the second time I install Slackware don't check this options.

Thank you

Thanks, I don't see anything obviously wrong
(ok maybe xfce4-power-manager --restart but it is not related to dbus, udisks or thunar)

There are two running instances of /usr/bin/startxfce4, same in my system (I don't know why it has to run twice)

Maybe you could redirect errors from x session in a file, and play with inserting and removing usb key in the hope an error will be triggered and an usefull error message will appear in log

Code:
startx > xsession.log 2>&1
Then in Xfce, in a terminal:
Code:
tail -f ~/xsession.log
Open thunar and insert, remove usb key, see if there is something happening on terminal window

FWIW it is true that Tex is "small potatoes" not involved with fundamental operation but unchecking KDE is a huge change that could affect numerous operations as well as reduce the number and type of tools you have to work with..
