Question Upgrading Slackware 10.2 kernel to 2.6.18-1

Hi,

I upgraded my desktop kernel from the default kernel that came with Slackware 10.2 to kernel 2.6.18-1. The upgrade is mostly succesful, except the following keyboard issue.
I use the grub loader, and the keyboard works fine when the machine is starting, at grub menu.
After the GRUB, the keyboard works, if i use the old kernel.
When i use the new kernel however i see the keyboard not being used.

When i built the 2.6.18-1 kernel, i copied the .config from the default Slacware 2.4, and then performed "make oldconfig", pressing enter for all additional items (selecting default).

I am not able to use the keyboard, but i am able to login through SSH and work on the machine remotely over the network.

Any suggections to get my keyboard working will be appreciated.

Thanks.

cheers.

What type of keyboard is it? USB? PS/2? Have you manually checked to make sure the keyboard drivers are installed in the kernel? Checked for the USB drivers if it's a USB keyboard? I know you said you did a "make oldconfig", but perhaps something got disabled.

Oh and check to see if the drivers are a module that you need to load. Check the xorg log for errors in "/var/log/Xorg.0.log".

Just some suggestions.

It is a USB keyboard. Any quick suggestions for checking if the USB driver is loaded?
And the file "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" is not there; should be no errors!
Most likely i disabled the USB driver as part of the kernel config.

regards.
