Upgraded the kernel and cannot find the printer


I upgraded the kernel from 2.4.29 to 2.6.10, and then I cannot find the printer.
When I used kernel 2.4.29, the printer is /dev/lp0. I compiled the parallel ports device as modules, and now there is no files in /dev/ named as lp*
How can I refind my printer?

is it actually plugged in? as udev will not created it unless it is.

that said are you using udev?

That said are you using udev? ---- Sorry, I don't know what is udev.

1) With the 2.6 kernel, are the parallel port modules actually loaded though? (lsmod should tell you if it is or not)

2) udev is the new thing in 2.6 to handle device naming, replacing devfs. Read this to learn more about it:
