UPGRADE.TXT to update

the UPGRADE.TXT is to update due important changes:

Code:
1. Upgrade your glibc shared libraries. This is important, or things
might go haywire during the next part of the upgrade:

    upgradepkg /root/slackware/a/aaa_glibc-solibs-*.txz
this is not correct since aaa_glibc-solibs does not exist in slackware 14.2, also there are other important packages. I suggest

Code:
upgradepkg --install-new /root/slackware/a/aaa_*
or

Code:
upgradepkg aaa_elflibs%/root/slackware/a/aaa_glibc-solibs-*.txz
upgradepkg aaa_elflibs%/root/slackware/a/aaa_libraries-*.txz

Until now (26th Jan) UPGRADE.TXT is not updated. When upgrading to -current I needed only something like
Code:
upgradepkg glibc_solibs%/root/slackware/a/aaa_glibc-solibs-2.33-x86_64-5.txz
I have not checked if aaa_glibc-solibs-*.txz is possible with the above (percent sign syntax). Next steps as described in UPGRADE.TXT went smooth.

the normal procedure still apply

slackpkg update
slackpkg install-new
slackpkg upgrade-all
slackpkg clean-system

I agree UPGRADE.TXT should be updated to add the "--install-new" switch.

Note however that CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT (which UPGRADE.TXT references) does list the changes, so a careful reader should be OK:

Code:
*** PACKAGE ADDITIONS SINCE 14.2 ***

a/aaa_glibc-solibs (replaces a/glibc-solibs)
a/aaa_libraries (replaces a/aaa_elflibs)
...

*** PACKAGE REMOVALS SINCE 14.2 ***

a/aaa_elflibs (replaced by a/aaa_libraries)
a/eject (included in a/util-linux)
a/getty-ps (moved to /extra)
a/glibc-solibs (replaced by a/aaa_glibc-solibs)
...
willysr: UPGRADE.TXT and CHANGES_AND_HINTS.TXT make no mention of slackpkg. They are written for users who directly use pkgtools.
