Updates with kernel...

Does slack use an update service like 'emerge' in gentoo? I have a somewhat fresh installation of slack 9.1 (i think) and I would like to update my system to the new kernel and update various other system progs like my windowmanagers. Also, how do I make it possible to startx into EITHER Kde or fluxbox depending on my mood?
TIA
--- Colin

its called swaret, if its not installed , download from swaret.org, install

pico /etc/swaret.conf.new
change version from 9.1 to current
save as swaret.conf
exit

to run,
swaret --update
swaret --upgrade

Take care, if you're on slack 9.1, then you should update the Kernel, as well as lilo...

To do that, just comment out the
Exclude kernel (and lilo)
in /etc/swaret.conf

and after you do update the kernel packages, MAKE SURE you type
lilo
before you reboot, otherwise you're in for trouble
