uninstalling w/ pkgtool...am I doing this right?

Runnin' Slackware 10.2...

Okay so I tried to install mplayer using pkgtool, and everything worked great...except mplayer when it was done. I got an illegal function error or something like it...

Now I would like to compile mplayer from source, so I used pkgtool to uninstall the mplayer and mplayer_codecs packages. The problem is when I "locate mplayer" i still get about fifteen mplayer files in various dirs. How do I know if these are necessary?

below is the output of "locate mplayer"...thanx in advance for any help!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

/usr/share/gtk-doc/html/libgimp/libgimp-gimplayer.html
/usr/share/vim/vim63/syntax/mplayerconf.vim
/usr/share/zsh/4.2.5/functions/_mplayer
/usr/include/gimp-2.0/libgimp/gimplayer_pdb.h
/usr/include/gimp-2.0/libgimp/gimplayer.h
/home/bink/.kde/share/mimelnk/application/x-mplayer2.desktop
/root/.mplayer
/root/.mplayer/config
/opt/kde/share/apps/konqsidebartng/add/mplayer_add.desktop
/opt/kde/share/apps/kappfinder/apps/Multimedia/mplayer.desktop
/opt/kde/share/icons/mono/scalable/apps/mplayer.svgz
/opt/kde/share/icons/mono/scalable/apps/kmplayer.svgz

look at the output of :

grep mplayer /var/log/packages/*

you'll see they come from other packages.
