Unable to enable "SFTP" in Thunar or pcmanfm.

Hi, I'm new to Slackware and this forum so don't rip too hard if I blunder here or there.

I have all my video files located on a headless machine which I access through sftp via a file-manager(Thunar) and watch on my laptop. On other distros I just open the file-manager, right-click the video I want to play and either VLC or SMPlayer will handle it from there. After many fruitless googles and such I haven't been able to find any help. I've tried newer version of gvfs than SlackBuilds.org provides but get stuck in compile errors.

I would really like to be able to use Thunar or pcmanfm to browse sftp but would accept any solution that allows me to stream the video as opposed to just copying the whole file to a local disk and then playing it. I can kinda work around this with SAMBA but it is much slower for me and I cannot access entire file system easily.
I recently switched from Arch to Slack because I wanted more stability and I'm burned-out on the rolling-release model. So far I love Slack and ain't lookin' back!

EDIT:Thanks for the fast reply and yeah I feel a bit silly for not checking out SSHFS before now. But problem solved and the solution is better than what I had before anyway, thanks!!

My favourite option for something like this would be sshfs (using passwordless key authentication (since it *is* internal lan), you could essentially automount the fs seamlessly.)

My second choice would be nfs; imho, much simpler to setup than samba....

cheers,

nfs is a really good way to go on this and you can have it going in about 15 minutes. I just click an icon on my desktop
of any of my computers and it takes me directly to my server and then watch read or play whatever I choose.

Sorry but can not help with your problem!
