udevd[1037]: delete_path: rmdir(/dev/.udev) failed: Read-only file system

Hi All,

After installing kernel-2.6.24.7 and udev-130 from slackware-current directory, I've went back and installed the 2.6.24.5 kernel and udev-118 that originally came with Slack 12.1

Now I get this message.

Quote:
udevd[1037]: delete_path: rmdir(/dev/.udev) failed: Read-only file system
Googled for the problem, but found nothing that helped me to figure this one out.

Please help!

Maybe you did not update the conf file ?
Have you a /etc/udev/udev.conf.new ? If yes, try to update udev.conf with it:
mv /etc/udev/udev.conf.new /etc/udev/udev.conf

Same for /etc/rc.d/rc.udev.new (if exists) etc

/etc/udev/udev.conf and /etc/rc.d/rc.udev exist without the .new extention.

But do there also exist versions with the .new extension? If you used "upgradepkg" to install udev-118 on top of udev-130 then that file must exist.
