Type Box Override Problem

Hello Slackers!

I have been using Slackware for some weeks, and I sometimes find that the typed text in certain text boxes (ex. Libreoffice Calc, and even this type box on the Slackware forum) that would cause the override of the words, as shown in the attached picture.

Is there any way to tell Slackware to prevent displaying the modified words in text boxes, thank you all!

Sometimes when I have weird X11 issues, they go away after I clear the cache, by shutting down the X11 environment, and then, from the CLI, clear the cache in ~/.cache (for me it's usually rm ~/.cache/sessions/xf* because I use xfce for window manager).

If that doesn't work, I will create a fresh user, and see if X11 works properly on fresh user's account -- if it does, then I know undesired behavior has something to do with current users config... if it doesn't, then I know it's a systemic, and not related to user configs...

If it's systemic... I might try a different windows manager... If same problem recurs in both windows manager, then then I blame X11 itself, and I check that it is using the correct kernel module for installed graphics card... X11 configures itself pretty good these days--there were days when vertical refresh and horizontal sync had to be tweaked for some displays...

Checking the log in /var/log/Xorg.0.log might give a clue... Hopefully one of the slacker gurus will chime in with more precise advice.

Do you have intel video? I had similar artifacts using the xf86-video-intel driver. I removed it and now I use xf86-video-modesetting with no issues (except video tearing in some cases but it is not a big issue).

A thread about the intel graphics issues:

I am using AMD Radeon. I am not sure if it would be the same case for Intel, however.
