Trouble with dvd video


I have a problem with dvd video:the audio works fine but the screen is all blue.I am using Slackware current and my video card is an ATI Technologies Inc Radeon R250 [Mobility FireGL 9000] (rev 01).

i think the driver should be fglrx instead or ati, or if u r using opensource driver it should be radeon. i dont know how u got those "direct rendering: Yes" message.

grab the new driver from ati, install it run fgl_glxgears and fglrxinfo check it.

if using mplayer, try from terminal so tht you will get a lot of debugging messages

Thank you rkrishna.I have solved the problem by installing VLC.But i have to run it while it's already going,otherwise video doesn't work.Very odd thing,right?

still got confused suppose u have a ati chipset how can u use it with "ati" in "device section", no proprietary or open drivers of ati, and agp : intel agp.

i suggest u please install either "proprietary or open drivers"

1.wht abt glxgears ?
2.custom compiled kernel?
3. lspci out
4. run mplayer without any arguments

This is important! After reboot lsmod will show you that is load modules: radeon, drm, agpgart, radeonfb, which you need it!

ati is a wrapper for ATI family chipsets. It checks the chipset first and then load the proper driver.
