Toshiba Satellite and kernel bareacpi.i

I have tried to install slack 9.1 on my toshiba satellite 500-104 and need acpi to manage the power on this machine. I naturally chose bareacpi.i as kernel happy to see that it is now supported by default in kernel 2.4.22 and at the end of the install, rebooted. The computer hangs straight after starting loading the distro. Went back to install and used bare.i, no problem to start.

So from there, i tried to recompile my kernel enabling manually acpi, still no luck.

My question: how can i enable successfully acpi with slackware 9.1?
Any feedback welcome!

Thanks
L

For toshiba computers, you usualy want to use Suse, or Mandrake. As those normally boot with no problems and no extra configs. Suse 9 will be out the 15th.

Suse or Mandrake? Nah, jut slackware for me! I just love it!
Anyway, to answer my own post: it looks that the drivers for acpi in kernel 2.4.22 aren't good enough to do the job on my Toshiba. So, same old thing, I had to download the patch from "acpi for linux" here: http://acpi.sourceforge.net/ patch the kernel and recompile it, et voilą! It works fine...
