Thanks for the trip down memory lane; I enjoyed reading our timeline. I missed that little entry in the changelog. We're now at beta1. Woo hoo!

Thanks to nobodino and ponce for help fixing a few sources that wouldn't
build properly. Overnight I tested recompiling everything using gcc-10.3.0-RC
and had no build failures, so we'll be taking gcc-10.3.0 once it (and new
kernels) arrive probably sometime next week. And then I think we'll be calling
this a beta. Cheers! :-)
Not to be rude, but there is no beta yet

I stand corrected. You were not rude at all, I was over enthusiastic. Heh. I'm happy that we're closer to a beta.

Mmnnnyeah... six or seven releases in 12 years is a bit on the high side for my taste.
Two would probably do, but the way Linux is bolted together, these more frequent "semi-forced" updates are most likely inevitable. I guess.

2-3 years ago we were close to beta too. A year ago even closer. And now we are more and more closer. Wow!

Just to be pedantic, there was never an alpha 1 of 14.2. It was "almost a beta"
Code:
Sat Nov 14 21:35:57 UTC 2015
Please enjoy "almost a beta." Sorry we missed Friday the 13th this time.

That's true
But you'll admit that the line between "alpha" and "almost a beta" is pretty thin
NB : fixed
