Since LibreOffice wasn't included in the Slackware current DVD that I created using the Hameleers script, I thought I would take a stab at compiling it myself from source code with the --without-java configure option.
The result has been surprising. It has literally been days since I started, albeit using a Pentium dual-core CPU with 1MB of L2 cache running at 2.1GHz which is about as fast as a Raspberry pi 4, but still, this is a vast project. To be sure, it's fully featured and it was originally a commercial product StarOffice, but still I'm sure most of that I'd never use.
Even when it was nearing being done and was running tests seemingly on its dynamic library code, it failed before generating an executable and gave an error:
Code:
: ERROR: ERROR: Missing files at /home/me/Downloads/libreoffice-6.4.0.3/solenv/bin/modules/installer/scriptitems.pm line 1212.
Is the failure of LibreOffice to compile (even after a long compilation has been endured) the reason why it isn't included in Slackware?
