Just seems like a waste to install anything else.
It runs so perfectly.
I agree, I'm also running 12.1 (as well as slamd64 12.1). I'll eventually upgrade when I have more time, but I usually like to do a full re-install because upgrading typically breaks compatibility with many apps that I have installed myself, they will need recompiling.

I bought an Asus Eee PC 1000H this weekend and slackware-current is running on the little machine now. Thus far, I only needed to download the rt2860 driver for its wireless card from the Ralink web site. The sound, wired NIC, and display work out of the box with the 2.6.28.7 kernel in -current. The cool thing is that the multi-touch touchpad functionality is available in Slackware too - a 1,2, or 3 finger tap is equivalent to mouseclick with button 1,3, and 2. Also, sliding across the pad with two fingers makes the active window content scroll as if you were using its scrollbar. Very handy!
That's great news - and having the same machine as the venerable Alien Bob is very reassuring

Does the internal microphone work and does your webcam work OK? The webcam seemed to work for me, except when I tried using it for a skype video conference - it caused skype to crash.

Yeah, when the next version of Slackware is released I'll do full, clean installs on my systems as well. I've got /home on a separate partition, so upgrading will be straight forward.

I have held off on updating too. I was just thinking recently about why I haven't. Not so much lack of time as just lack of enthusiasm for going through the upgrade process. I built a new computer last fall that I've barely messed with, so I could throw a fresh install of 12.2 on a second drive in it. But, I haven't.

My main "always on" internet terminal is a 3-year old laptop that has caused too many problems every time I've upgraded it. The intel 950 driver started out bad in 2006, got better, got worse, is now somewhat better again. Every change seems to bork the font rendering, gxine, refresh rates, or something in randr. I'm still running linux-2.6.21 from 12.0 because I've got it tweaked and I have to be real careful with the ACPI setup on this machine. The BIOS won't turn fans on by itself, so I nearly burned the thing down early on before I figured out how important modules like "thermal" and "fan" are. It's still got a bulge in the case on the back of the screen where the CPU softened the plastic while the lid was shut. Good times.

My file server has a RAID1 setup and 12.1 and I probably won't ever update it. So the new machine will probably be the first and maybe only one to get 12.2 and beyond.
