i would like to thank everyone on this board for helping me do my first compile on kernel 2.6
it worked, thanks for all of your help
now i'm having problems with sound. i went under /etc/rc.d/rc.modules and uncommented the line for my sound driver. but no sound.
how do i get my sound now ?
thanks in advance again
aah, I have that EXACT same problem... I have about two different 2.6.0 kernels and one 2.4.23 kernel... one 2.6.0 has the stock ALSA which works perfectly, even tho' alsaconf claims that I have no soundcards present on my system... one other, Im trying to install alsa 1.0.0rc2, and am not able to even install the driver!!! The 2.4.23 one, I compiled with alsa 0.9.8, and I have that EXACT same thing u mentioned!!! same errors and all... wasnt able to figure it out, and 2.6.0 came out before I could research it, so just ditched it.... hope somebody responds.....
