tar zxvf and slackware 10.0

I am having some problems using the tar command, When I try to sue the tar command to unpack this program which is on cdromthis is the output that I am getting. Could anyone please help me to get this right? I am using slackware 10.0. root@darkstar:~# tar zxvf'/mnt/cdrom/System/ClamAntiVirus/clamav-0.74.tar.gz'
tar: Old option `f' requires an argument.
Try `tar --help' for more information.
root@darkstar:~#

try:
Code:
tar -xvzf /mnt/cdrom/System/ClamAntiVirus/clamav-0.74.tar.gz
Don't know that the order matters, but this always works for me. Also, I added a "-".

tar -zxf <filename> works just fine, add v if you want to see what it is doing.

I would assume that you cd to the dir it got installed into, then read the readme and install files. Most likely be ./configure then make then make install as root.
