It's a virtual machine - twice today the OOM killer was triggered and the server died.
It is up and running again and I added a 1GB swapfile this time, in the hope that that will at least prevent another death.

I don't know what a OOM killer is but it sounds bad I hope you will have no further problems

thanks a lot for your effort!
OOM stands for Out Of Memory... It's a kind of daemon which kills processes when memory gets low...
