What's in the log? Something like a "tail -100 /var/log/syslog" should help you find out what's happening.

I had this event happen a few times... It was (if I remember well) related to GPM suddenly flushing high frequencies messages endlessly. I think I stopped that just disabling GPM, but I'm not sure, and I can't say this is your problem, it just looks a lot like that.

Please have a look at your logs to see what are the duplicated messages and come back with your findings (copy/paste an excerpt), else all clues will be shots in the dark.

@allenlinux: if the file increases it must have content. What we are asking is to see the last 100 or so lines of a log-file when it is filling up. The ones you have now posted appear to be just after boot, so impossible to tell what is filling the log.
ps) To disable gpm just switch to initlevel 3 instead of 4, see
beginners guide

I would try two things:
1. Check and see if you can find updated wireless drivers.
2. Check and see if there's any updated firmware for your router.
You can try taking the laptop to a friend's house and connecting to the wireless network there. If it has the same type of output, I'd guess it's your wireless driver causing issues.

Maybe but I'm not seeing how he gets to 100 GB. Taking the above I see around 500 bytes a minute. Correct my calculations but wouldn't 100 GB need something like 380 years at that rate? Slackware's pretty old, but unless he got here from the mothership or another dimension... well, I'd look farther up for more stuff.
