sysctl.conf is ignored on boot (want to turn off IPv6)

Slackware noob here. I've installed Slackware64 14.1 and have hit a problem trying to turn off IPv6 using sysctl. I've entered the following lines in /etc/sysctl.conf:

net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1
net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1

Testing with "sysctl -p" works, but the file is ignored on the next boot. I know I can try adding "ipv6.disable = 1" to the append line in lilo.conf, but I'm concerned that sysctl isn't working as I'd expect. I'm probably missing some configuration step, but don't know where. Any help would be appreciated (apologies if this has been covered in another thread - I did a search but couldn't find anything).

Kernel is generic with initrd, using LILO. CPU is Athlon IIx4. Installation was from Slackware64-14.1 DVD followed by "slackpkg update" and "slackpackage upgrade-all" from a local mirror. This is on a test server with no X and a fairly pared-down package list.

(I'm enjoying Slackware so far after using Debian for 15+ years and getting tired of fighting its increasing complexity with every new release. systemd was the final straw.)

Welcome to Slackware!

In the past I've used a file entitled, ipv6.conf
and placed in /etc/modprobe.d/
to turn off ipv6. It contains one line,

options ipv6 disable=1

Another option:
I added "blacklist ipv6" to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf to prevent the ipv6 module from being loaded.

Thanks for the replies. I've been lurking here for a while, and the helpful and knowledgeable answers on this forum were a factor in my decision to give Slackware a try.

No worries. I didn't see that Nvm meant nevermind - forehead slap duly applied.
