.. switch from kde- to gnome-desktop?

Hello all,

after install another graphiccard, i have no chance for a right font-size in the toolbars and menu listings in 'firefox', 'mozilla' and 'thunderbird' too. Everything is much to little. So in the internet i found the information 'gtk' steers these mozilla programs.

Here 'kde' is the desktop application.

So may be someone have a hint to switch to 'gnome-desktop', cause i need the program 'gnome-session-properties' (i think).

Also every font size in the 'konsole' or the 'gnome-terminal' much to small.

System is "slackware 10.2"!

An answer would be very nice!._)

as far as firefox goes...if you're using firefox 1.5, i noticed i had to go into firefox and change display resolutions to "system settings"

you can get there from firefox edit>preferences>content and choose the advanced button under fonts & colors...and switch the display resolution there. i forget what mine was set at originally, but it seems i had the same problem you do...

once i set it to "system settings" my fonts fell right into place nicely

If I read you right, you don't need to switch to gnome to get gtk styles working. All you need to do is make a .gtkrc and a .gtkrc-2.0 file in home.

Contents will be somthing like:

gtk-font-name = "Verdana 10"
include "/home/dave/.themes/BlackmarbleMatrix/gtk-2.0/gtkrc"
pixmap_path "/home/dave/.themes/BlackmarbleMatrix/gtk-2.0/"

To change font you only need the first line. The other 2 are for applying a gtk style

... thanks for response!

Now with these preferences from 'Edit -> Preferences -> Content ...' i set from 'system-settings' to '96dpi' and things (letters) in the menu bar / toolbar looks a little bit bigger - but not optimal / good.

With the 'konsole' i could help myself.

Don't know but with this card ('geforce 6200V+') every titles / letters was much more smaller as before.

Other things ( not 'firefox, mozilla etc') i could set correct manually.

Also i havn't found a 'BlackMarble' theme, or could i name it like i want?

Cheers --user_tom
