swaret problem

hi all !

after upgrading kde* packages I can't run swaret. Error looks like this :
___________________________________________________
bash-3.1# swaret
swaret 1.6.3-2

You need 'pkgtools' in order to use swaret!
'pkgtools' can be found in the Slackware Packages Directory: slackware/a!
___________________________________________________

but pkgtools already installed.

what is "Slackware Packages Directory" ? How can I find it to solve this problem ?

Thanks guys !)

Did you install Slackware from cd?
If you insert cd 1 and navigate to /slackware you will see directories a,ap,d,kde, xap etc
so pkgtools is in slackware/a

these files are also available on the Slackware mirrors

As to why an upgrade of kde should affect swaret I have no idea.
Could you please state what version of Slackware you are using, and what kde* exactly did you upgrade to?

AFAIK swaret does some sort of dependency checking, right? Then I'd guess that you installed KDE 3.5.6 from current and swaret updated other packages too including (but not limited to ) pkgtools. These have changed form previous versions.

I had the same problem after running swaret --upgrade.
Try to install the new version of package "which", and you should solve your problem.
You can find "which" package in one of the slackware current packages repository.

This is my first post... I cannot post any link.

IMO people who use swaret to keep their systems up-to-date should never use a slackware-current repository but stay with an official release like Slackware 11.0.

Slackware-current is the development version, not to be toyed with by an automation tool like swaret, unless you know what you're doing (and then you should not be using swaret at all really....)

I have been updating 11.0 on a machine behind a very annoying content filtering firewall that frequently corrupts *.tgz files.
When I run upgradepkg on one of these files the script drops out when it detects this corruption, but the original package is already removed. maybe your swaret did something similar?
