I installed swaret a couple of days ago and have been playing around with it. Today i installed mysql with swaret, my problem now is that i cant seem to find it or start it.

swaret tells me mysql is installed, but i cannot start it with /etc/rc.d/rc.mysqld

When i install stuff with swaret, where does the stuff end up? If i would like to run a ./configure on the stuff i install with swaret, lets say apache/php - how do i do this?

Maybe my problem is not related to swaret, it could be im to bad at starting mysql. Help would be appreciated.

You would need to get the source code and compile it yourself.

Found out that i now had a user mysql, when su'ing to mysql, i could run /usr/bin/mysqld_safe &, after that jumping into mysql was no problem...

so I guess the problem is solved now.

Thats what i would like to avoid and instead running the config-arguments directly in swaret, i guess it's not possible. Is it so that all stuff which needs to be configured before install must be installed manually, and if so - what happens when/if swaret tries to update/install new versions ?
