swaret: diff between ROOT and REPOS_ROOT?

posted this at the swaret site:
http://swaret.sourceforge.net/index....wtopic&p=94#94

the old swaret site had more documentation than the one at sourceforge.

The ROOT keyword gives the location of an official Slack mirror, i.e. a server which contains the Slackware distro proper. The REPOS_ROOT keyword gives the location of a third-party Slack package server, for instance LinuxPackages.net. There can be several ROOTs and REPOS_ROOTs given. In the case of ROOT mirrors, only one at a time is used; for instance if one of them doesn't respond, then swaret tries another one. In the case of the REPOS_ROOTs, they are usually distinct package repositories, that is one REPOS_ROOT given for the LinuxPackages repository, and one REPOS_ROOT given for BlaxeBox, and so on. However, I believe it is possible (even though I've never tried it, and I can't see no real point to doing it) to use several servers of the same repository here too, such as a bunch of LinuxPackages servers.

Cheers

o i c

and if we specify multiple repositories (diff servers) then will swaret avoid redownloading the package from all repos? so far, ive got 2+ copies of some files. 1 is in /var/swaret (downloaded from one of the ROOTs i guess) and the other(s) are in one or more other repos/repo_name dir(s).

is this the intended behaviour for swaret?

OK, I think we should choose one forum to discuss this, and since it seems this thread is more active in the Swaret General forum, we ought to stick to that one.

Cheers
