The ROOT keyword gives the location of an official Slack mirror, i.e. a server which contains the Slackware distro proper. The REPOS_ROOT keyword gives the location of a third-party Slack package server, for instance LinuxPackages.net. There can be several ROOTs and REPOS_ROOTs given. In the case of ROOT mirrors, only one at a time is used; for instance if one of them doesn't respond, then swaret tries another one. In the case of the REPOS_ROOTs, they are usually distinct package repositories, that is one REPOS_ROOT given for the LinuxPackages repository, and one REPOS_ROOT given for BlaxeBox, and so on. However, I believe it is possible (even though I've never tried it, and I can't see no real point to doing it) to use several servers of the same repository here too, such as a bunch of LinuxPackages servers.
Cheers
