Stupid Noob Question #47

Is what I've been told to type:
Quote:
rm -f /usr/src/linux
ln -s /usr/src/linux-2.6.7 /usr/src/linux
basically the same as what I did type:

Quote:
ln -sf /usr/src/linux-2.6.7 /usr/src/linux
????

If yes, why does /usr/src/linux point to /usr/src/linux-2.4.26 still?

I hope this is my problem compiling the kernel. I'll go try. And maybe someone could explain.

I think it should look like this:
Code:
rm -r /usr/src/linux
ln -s /usr/src/linux-2.6.7 /usr/src/linux

The later one doesn't necessarily drop /usr/src/linux if it is a real directory (instead of symlink). If it is a symlink in the first place, the both commands should do the same.
