static ip, no internet...

I edited /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1.conf
setting my computer at 10.0.0.2
network mask, and the correct gateway to 10.0.0.1
Im also running aMule, and that one connects fine, but no internet in Opera nor mozilla,
no Gaim and no email connection, so then I wonder.
Do I have to change some other stuff to get my static ip, this is an internal ip i want to set,
cuz I got my ports forwarded on this address 10.0.0.2

Any help would be nice

Have you configured your DNS servers in /etc/resolv.conf?

Can you post the output from:
ifconfig
route -n
dig www.linuxquestions.org +short

seems to be working now.
It seems like something was overriding my /etc/resolv.conf file
had a look at it after running netconfig and it said
search slackware instead of nameserver 217.13.7.136
