Sonar screen saver crashes KDE
After the last kde updates, when i try to set up the Sonar screensaver to ping 254 hosts it crashes KDE and returns to login screen.

Sonar works for me -- although I haven't set it up to actually ping anything. Have you set it suid?

nope, I changed SUID (4755?) and every time i try to change the pingging options it falls back to kdm login screen

it works in a window with "-ping 192.168.2.0/24" parameter from the command line.
But it gives this message:

Does the nv-glx extension work with the onboard intel card? I use the onboard intel card since my Nvidia ION2 is not supported yet.
After the command line experiment i think that the crash is not caused by sonar. (KDE maybe?)

Ok after I find out the command to run the screen saver setup from console I tried this:

when I try to change the subnet it crashed

Looks like your nvidia drivers are not setup properly. What's the output of 'glxinfo'?

Ummm... So if it's not supported, why do you have the nvidia drivers installed? If X is crashing here (rather than just KDE), it's best to make sure that X is installed and working properly.. You appear to be using the intel card GPU, so remove the nvidia driver completely, and then see if the crashing continues. Mind you, this could be completely unrelated, but you should definitely fix the most obvious problem with your system.

Removing the latest nvidia driver -which I installed to test if it supports ION 2 and forgot to uninstall- solved the problem. Thanks
