So I chickend out and used Mandrake

I'll switch to Slackware once I get more used to being away from WIndows.

But the point of this post -

Though I'm on Mandrake can anyone help me set up my Cable modem? It worked on the install (after I deleted my whole harddrive) to download updates, but it didnt work after I installed.

I tried their wizard but it didnt work...

Try running netconfig as root. Know all your ISP's DNS info (primary and secondary DNS IPs, and DNS name) as well as the DHCP info (server IP and server name) if you need it--not always do you need it. This should get you up and running in no time--assuming Drake set up your NIC for you. Hope this helps.

man, info pages not much help. searched for info re: dhcp, drake wizard etc.
TIA
