All,
I just got this laptop (very new) and I'm very happy with it but I have a few questions related to getting some stuff to work (see
http://www.puresimplicity.net/~delah...dell/dell.html)
USB 3.0 doesn't work no matter what kernel (it seems) I run. Most the time I would see logs that when I plug in a USB 3.0 device (or almost any) that the drive would want to go into suspend or whatever and wouldn't wake so the controller ignored it. I would see /proc/partitions populate the partitions on it and then it would disappear quickly. This happens with the stock kernel as well as 2.6.39.4 (with generic-smp config from -current) and 3.0.4 (with as close to generic-smp config as possible on that one). In fact when in verbose debug USB 3.0 (xhci-hcd) would fill up /var/log/messages with complaining about sensing mode or something, to the point I would run out of space on root partition!
So far the only solution that seems to work is blacklisting xhci-hcd and using the only USB 2.0 port (different controller).
Please let me know if you all know anything and/or what info you'd like. Most the info about the laptop is on that website. Thanks!
Respectfully,
Robert
