Slackware with gnome-system-tools

I installed gnome with a sript from
http://jaguarlinux.com/pub/slackware.../gnome-2.24.0/

Everything went greate but gnome 2.24 dont have gnome-system-tools
then I installed 2.22 from source but when I want to use it I get this:

The configuration could not be loaded
You are not allowed to access the system configuration.

In terminal I tried with root:

pode@PC1:~$ su
Password:
root@PC1:/home/pode# network-admin
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "gnomebreakpad": libgnomebreakpad.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

** (network-admin:3084): CRITICAL **: Cannot create session bus: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken.

(network-admin:3084): Gtk-WARNING **: Unknown property: GtkComboBox.items

Please help

gnome-system-tools is deprecated since gnome 2.24. Network-admin is now done from nm-applet. You will need polkit-gnome to make changes, and you will ALSO need to build packages that requires these changes link to it as well. The latter applies to the clock applet for changing system time, not sure about the rest.

Make sure that your account is allowed to modify the network settings. /etc/PolicyKit/PolicyKit.conf is where the default configs should be. You may need to use the root account.

I dropped gnome-system-tools from 2.24.0.... It's severely unmaintained and is likely to really screw your system up by using it. I know my changelogs get rather long-winded but I mentioned it in there somewhere...

TBH, I'm not the slightest bit happy with pam, consolekit and policykit being required on 2.24.... You'll notice I haven't released 2.24.1 yet..... It still needs alot of polishing which I'll try to do sometime soon. Been working on updating jaguar proper for the past few weeks...

But, policykit, policykit-gnome and consolekit are in 2.24.0 already. I'm side-skirting pam by sticking with gdm-2.20.8.

I don't understand the libgnomebreakpad issue. That's in bugbuddy which you should have. The rest of your problems stem from unnecessary and overly complicated authentication imposed by the crap that is policykit.... So, yes. You'll need to tweak your policykit.conf
